Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1. Register on Spefix

Go to spefix.com, click "Try for free." Register via email or Google account. Once in the dashboard, create a domain: click "Create domain" and enter your store URL (e.g., https://myshop.com.ua).

Step 2. Create a Dedicated User in Horoshop

Spefix connects to Horoshop via API using a login and password of a separate user — not your main account, but a purpose-built one with limited permissions. This is secure: the user can only see products, with no access to orders, customers, or payments.

  1. Horoshop Admin → Settings → Admins → "Add"
  2. Enter email and password
  3. Select role — content-manager
  4. Save

Step 3. Connect the API in Spefix Dashboard

In the Spefix dashboard, go to: Search Settings → Integration. Select integration type "Horoshop" and enter the login and password of the user you just created. Click "Submit."

Spefix connects to the Horoshop API and starts automatically importing products. For a store with 3,000–5,000 products, this takes 5–30 minutes. You can see the status right in the dashboard: "Processing" → "Ready." If the status shows "Error" — don't troubleshoot yourself, just message support with a link to your dashboard.

Step 4. Add the Code to Your Site

While products are importing, you can install the code right away. In the "Integration" section, copy a single line of JavaScript:

In Horoshop: Admin → Settings → General Settings → Scripts — paste before the closing </body> tag. Save.

Step 5. Configure the Widget

In the Spefix dashboard, customize the widget appearance: colors, font, number of suggestions. You'll also need to specify the CSS selector of your search button so the widget opens when customers click it. Step 6. Test It

Open your store in an incognito tab (Ctrl+Shift+N) — important, because a regular tab may show a cached version. Click search — the Spefix widget should appear. Test a few queries:

  • "Sumsung" — should find Samsung products
  • "headphons" — should find headphones
  • "nhfycajhvfnjh" — should find transformers

If you see results — everything works. Most store owners at this point immediately test the scariest query from their analytics — the one that returned zero results for months. And they see products.

The next morning, the Spefix dashboard will show the first real data: what customers searched for, how many found nothing, which queries are most popular. That number usually surprises people — even those who thought their search was "fine."

Common Issues and How to Fix Them

Widget doesn't appear. Check in an incognito tab — cache may be blocking changes. If that doesn't help, the most common cause is the code being placed in the wrong scripts section.

Some products aren't found. Check the import status in your Spefix dashboard — it shows how many products were imported and if there are any errors. Products marked as "out of stock" may be excluded from the index.

Widget doesn't match your design. Adjust colors in the Spefix dashboard. For deeper customization, use CSS overrides in your Horoshop template.
